Congratulations, Scholarship Recipients!!!

A New Scholarship!!  The Wayne Cox Memorial Bluebird Scholarship!!

We're setting up a third scholarship to assist college-bound Wapahani seniors next year!! The Wayne Cox Memorial Bluebird Scholarship will be awarded annually to the grandchild or great-grandchild of a Bluebird.  You may contribute to this scholarship fund by purchasing a copy of Wayne Cox's Selma High School Alumni Registry in the WebStore on this site, or by making a direct contribution.  Send your check, made payable to the Wayne Cox Bluebird Scholarship, to WAA, P. O. Box 45, Selma, IN  47383.  Thanks to Mrs. Betty Cox, we're able to make Wayne's book available to more people interested in the history of Selma High School, while also helping deserving college-bound WHS seniors.

W.A.A. Alumni Scholarship

Natalie Dudley, daughter of Brian and Christina Dudley, has been awarded the $500.00 W.A.A. Alumni Scholarship for 2009.  In her 4 years at Wapahani, Natalie has been active in sports, Student Council, National Honor Society, Band, and has received many honors and awards for academic achievement.  Natalie will also receive a free One-Year Membership to Wapahani Alumni Association.  We wish Natalie well as she continues her education at Ball State University.  

W.A.A. Owen D. Suits Scholarship

 

Brandon A. Morvilius, son of Bruce and Shonda Morvilius, has been awarded the $500.00 W.A.A. Owen D. Suits Memorial Scholarship for 2009.  Throughout his high school career, Brandon has been involved in sports, cadet teaching, community volunteerism, and was nominated as a Hoosier Boys State Delegate in 2008.  Brandon will also receive a free One-Year Membership to Wapahani Alumni Association.  We wish Brandon well as he continues his education at Ball State University.

Wapahani Alumni Association                           Alumni Scholarship

The Wapahani Alumni Association Alumni Scholarship is an annual, non-renewable scholarship given to a graduating Wapahani senior who demonstrates a desire to succeed in his/her chosen career, a willingness to work toward goals, has a positive attitude, and shows pride in being a Wapahani Raider.  This scholarship is open to all graduating seniors, although preference will be given to the child or grandchild of a Wapahani Alumni.

Giving Back--Through Alumni Scholarships

 You can support our scholarships by attending events, purchasing our Raider Wear or  "An Alumni Feast" cookbook, or by outright contributions to one or both of our scholarships.  Complete the Donor Contribution Form, print it, and send with your thoughtful gift (make check payable to Wapahani Alumni Association), to Wapahani Alumni Association, P. O. Box 45, Selma, IN  47383.    No gift is too small.

Owen D. Suits Memorial Scholarship

  Wapahani Alumni Association has established the Wapahani Alumni Association Owen D. Suits Memorial Scholarship to be presented to a graduating Wapahani High School senior.  Mr. Suits was a dedicated educator, mentor, and coach who gave of his time and talents to help the children of Liberty-Perry schools.  He loved his students and his students loved him.

One annual, non-renewable scholarship will be awarded to the student who most demonstrates strong work ethics, volunteerism, leadership, and who desires to pursue a career in education.

Make your checks payable to W.A.A. Owen Suits Scholarship and mail to Wapahani Alumni Association, P. O. Box 45, Selma, IN  47383, or you can make a direct deposit at any First Merchants Bank branch in Muncie.  Tell them it's for the W.A.A. Owen Suits Scholarship.  The bank doesn't keep records of contributors, so please send us your contact info to receive acknowledgement to info@wapahanialumni.com.

2008-2009 Wapahani Alumni Association Scholarship Recipient--Chase Kinsey

 The first recipient of a $500 Wapahani Alumni Association Alumni Scholarship was senior Chase Kinsey, who was an All-State baseball player while at WHS.  He graduated in May, 2008 and now attends Indiana Vocational Technical College (Ivy Tech).
